I had the pleasure of riding with Kris K yesterday. It had been a few years (eight I think), and we had a few moments to catch up. As it turns out, Kris's big bike is classic Atomlab. Rocking the Pimp hubs, and Pimplite rims with the limited edition 33" top tube frame, and limited chrome Pimp bars. Kris is an amazingly skilled rider on both the big bike and the little whips. Check out the video below. According to Kris, this is several years of shred put together in one little web vid. Very sick riding!

Mike Montgomery has just won the Teva Mountain Games Slopestyle at Golden Peak in Vail Colorado. Paul Basagoitia in 2nd and Anthony Messere 3rd, Sam Dueck 4th, and Kurt Sorge 5th.

It sounds like Paul Bas went down hard on a double backflip and was taken to the hospital to get checked out, we're hoping he's all right!

This is an online petition in support of the continued Bmx Bicycle enthusiast use of Los Angeles Park & Rec land in Griffith Park, located in Los Angeles, Ca.

The location in question is an otherwise un-usable plot of land, located between Forest Lawn Drive, and the Los Angeles river. The location is near to the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Griffith Park. The land has been in use harmoniously, respectfully, and safely, by Bmx bicycle enthusiasts for a number of years.

In all this time the local citizens who partake in the use of the sight, have maintained, cleaned, and used the land with the utmost respect for the location. Trash cans, trash bags, and maintenance tools have all been furnished by the citizens using the land as a whole. Trash removal is carried out on a routine basis, by the citizens using the land.

We, a group of local tax payers in Los Angeles, feel that we have been the most respectful of users of this property that we can be. With the full backing of the Parks and Rec, as well as the city of Los Angeles, the concerned users of the land (local tax payers) would continue to preform trash removal, and any other required maintenance, at no cost to the city, Parks & Rec, or other related departments.

We just want a place to ride our bicycles, which is an extremely healthy hobby and excellent use of otherwise useless park space, by tax payers.

Removal of the bicycle enthusiasts from this property would most certainly result in the land being used as a illegal dump sight for garbage. This is what the property was used for in the past, and due to it's secluded location and proximity to Forest Lawn Drive, it will surely be used for illegal waste disposal again.

Los Angeles Parks & Rec needs to decide, weather they want citizens to use this property for a healthy sport related activity, or an illegal trash dump. There is no other use for this property.

I Got the last of the parts for my Corsair Crown Dh bike on the weekend in Italy and got it built up. Its super nice and I am so stoked to have 3 bikes rollin while I am here in Europe! Bring on ANY terrain!!!
Thank you very much for all the help with getting these bikes running , its great to have good quality bikes to ride and they all look trick as hell!
The only thing left to do is RIDE 'EM, which is what Im off to do Right now!:)

Just a quick update of what I have been up 2..
Well Ive been over here in Europe for 2 and a half weeks , Its been pretty cool so far ,we turned up in Switzerland and brought a weapon of a van for 300 swiss franks i, it had been in a crash and the back door wouldnt close so i did some Kiwi panel beating ( jumping on it a few times) and put a peice of ply where the window was and now its sweeet! haha.The van AKA 'the Bumble bee" aint pretty but it gets us where we need to go so thats cool.
The 1st mission was to Vienna Air King Via Czech republic , We loaded up the Bumble bee with my bike and gear and headed out of switzerland toward Czech , One of the LOWlights of the trip was me and my "rules dont apply to Kelly Mcgarry " attitude getting us a 120 euro fine for driving in Austria with no High way vinnette sticker (which costs 9 Euro) . DOW! ,We were just nipping over the tip of Austria for 20mins ,but the officer diddnt seem to care at all. 120 euro ON THE SPOT OWCH!
We made it thru to Czech and had a look around prauge which was cool, the city could definitly tell a few stories!
We stayed just out of Prauge for the night then high tailed to Vienna to stay with my mate Niki Lietner and ride his personal trails www.dirtgarden.at . Nikis dirtpark was sick and had lines going both ways ,a satalite dish and the mother of all roll ins for the big line! We had a shred there for a day with ZEE GERMANS and it was Hella fun.
Next up was Vienna air king , The course was cool right in the middle of Vienna with a sweet first drop and 3 comp style dirt jumps finishing with a quarter. We dodged showers a wind gust and got some practice in on the friday before . I was lucky enough to be on the set riders list so I didn't need to qualify . On the day of the comp the weather was a bit shady but we got on with the comp anyway. . I got a safety run in the bag but I had to step it up on my last run to make the final. I had 360'd the first drop in practise a couple of times so I decided to go for it in my final run, I landed the drop smooth but just tagged my back wheel when I flipped the first jump and didn't have enough speed to get through the set. I was Hella bummed but thats just the way it goes.
We Drove straight back to Switzerland after the comp and helped my Mate Ramon build the "rocket air " slopestyle course in the town of Thun. The course was set up in an ice hockey stadium which actully worked out to be pretty cool as the whole crowd could see every part of the course and could sit down drink beer and watch the action go DOWN.
I was pretty stoked on the course , it had a pretty decent roll in drop into a big dirt jump then a step up step down into a box jump then final dirt jump then a quarter
The comp kicked off on Sat afternoon , All the Euro shredders and some USA riders showed up so it was pretty gnarly , i had a couple of not bad qual runs and made it thru to the finals . stoked.
The finals were loaded with shredders, I had to MAN up and flip down the first drop which had a tiny little kicker and was hella scary, but got it done in practice just before my finals run. I had a couple of good runs , I got pretty loose an a barrelroll and only just managed to footjam the quarter... but other wise I was pretty stoked. I ended up 12th .
Every one over here is shredding this year! I am looking forward to the rest of the trip. We are off to Croatia tomorrow morning and then thru to Italy for a Dirt jump comp so that should keep us busy for a couple of weeks.

This past weekend was fabulous for the Vixen's.. Jackie was on the podium with some World Class competition, and was once again within seconds of Melissa Buhl. Darian also laid down a solid time, and Christine took the win for the second round of the Cal State series. Check out the ladies on the podium-definitely a pre-curser for upcoming World Cup races!

Mike Montgomery places 5th at the Rocket Air slopestyle event in Switzerland!

Mike says the trip was a blast(just like the volcano)and went really well. Mike Placed 5th in the event, and took home 1st place in best trick! Now that the season is in full swing Mike is heading up 2 bend Oregon this coming weds. Just shortly after that Mike leaves on may 6th for the FISE event in France. So it's gonna be a very busy season opening month and Mike can't wait to put a smile on everyone's face!

Atomlab,

I wanted to thank you for your awesome support with my bike at Sea Otter. It rode better than I expected and I got a second, considering I didn't have any time to dial the bike in before getting in the gate and pushing it as hard as I could. The Sea Otter experience was a lot of fun I tried to document my riding as best I could. I'm including a picture of my Trail Pimp shirt which I made with my dad like 10 years ago, so I qualify as an Old-G Trail Pimp. Yep 90's status! I was going to the track 2-3 days a week and trails and park every other day listening to Ride Disc 5 (home burned CD) with Jay Z's I'm a hustler baby.

Pimpin' ain't as easy as it looks.

Ok, just so all of you tread heads are aware, we will now be posting riding news that may in fact have NOTHING to do with Atomlab, or it's products. What we do here at Atomlab is simply support the sport and ALL of it's wonderful riders. Here is a great example. A video of Matt White.

Matt is a shredder from across the pond who was at one time representing Union Street Bikes. However to my knowledge USB is no more. That didn't stop Mr. White from shredding on! Don't believe me? Just watch below.

Danny MacAskill in today's NEW YORK TIMES!!!

New York, December 29th – Danny MacAskill and his famous youtube video made it far, not only in the biking industry. After being interviewed on BBC, Sunday Times, and other mainstream media, Danny got his probably biggest newspaper publication: In today’s New York Times Danny got portrayed in the Global Sports section.

The Scottish street trial rider Danny MacAskill got famous almost over night thru the famous youtube video, filmed and edited by Dave Soverby.

Since then Danny had various requests from bike and mainstream media, commercial requests, TV shows, such as “Britains got talent” or “Ellen DeGenerous”, and probably the biggest print publication on Danny appeared today, Tuesday December 29th. Carol Wallace interviewed Danny MacAskill for New York Times with more in-depth questions than in previous media reports about Danny.

Read the article and get an idea about Danny’s life before and after the impact of capturing pure passion for bike riding with one single video which got spread throughout the worldwideweb. Great to see that Danny elevates the mountain bike sport in such a positive way!
